Chief engineer since 1967 at New York City's last steam driven power plant, Conrad will have to face his fear of the future. Where will he go when he retires? Will he be able to take his 12 cats with him? Will he adapt to the modern world he now finds himself in? With a body becoming as obsolete as the machines he works to preserve, he certainly will try.
